La Mandragola(English: The Mandrake is a satirical play by Italian Renaissance philosopher Niccolò Machiavelli.
La Mandragola in 1518 as a distraction from his bitterness at having been excluded from the diplomatic and political life of Florence following the 1512 reversion to Medicirule.
Clizia
The plot centres around a lecherous Florentine named Nicomaco who becomes attracted to an orphan girl he has raised since childhood. Nicomaco's son is also interested in the girl and wishes to marry her, but both men are manipulated by the matriarch of the family.
